Objective

This is the kick-off workshop of the ILFT (International Lattice Field Theory) Network, which is a research program sponsored by the JSPS aiming at building and expanding a cooperative international framework in the lattice field theories among universities and research institutions in Japan, the US, Germany and the UK. The purpose of the workshop is to identify the problems in lattice QCD to be pursued through the research program,

Scientific program

The workshop will start in the morning on September 21 and will end around noon on September 24. A small welcome party will be held in the evening on September 20.

The subjects will cover lattice QCD simulations in general:

In addition we discuss details of "International Lattice Data Grid", which provides a system to share the simulation data internationally, intending that this workshop will initiate new international collaborations via ILDG.

This workshop consists of invited plenary talks and a few contributed talks. The confirmed plenary speakers are:

Informal workshop on "Twisted mass QCD and phase structure of QCD with Wilson-type quarks" in the afternoon.

Right after the workshop (in the afternoon of 24th), we are planning to have a small informal discussion meeting on "Twisted mass QCD and phase structure of QCD with Wilson-type quarks" at the same hotel. You are also welcome to attend this meeting. If you have something to present, please contact us. So far, the following peoples will present some materials.

Expected speakers:
S. Aoki: Twisted mass QCD, O(a) improvement and WCPT[ pdf ]
S. Hashimoto: Experiences at Nf=3[ pdf ]
K. Jansen: Scalling in the Schwinger model[ pdf ]
I. Montvay: More unquenched twisted mass quarks: twist angle, split doublets etc.[ pdf ]
A. Shindler: GN model with the twisted mass Wilson fermion
A. Ukawa: Parity-broken phase: a new perspective on past experience[ pdf ]

Proceedings

There will be no proceedings. Instead we wish to link the PDF file of your presentations to the program of the Workshop web page.

A LCD projector and an OHP will be provided. You will be asked to provide a (electronic) copy of you slides. If your laptop cannot use an USB flash memory, please send the file by e-mail to us.

Registration and accomodation

Participants who would like to attend the workshop should fill the registration and accommodation form and send via e-mail to saoki@het.ph.tsukuba.ac.jp.

Laforet-Shuzenji Hotel, where is the workshop site, provides us single and shared rooms including breakfast, lunch and dinner. Shared rooms are supposed to be for graduate students. No roommate matching service is available.

There will be no registration fee.

Deadline is 25 August 2004

The registration will be open at the hotel from 4:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
A dinner on 20th will be provided from 5:30pm to 9:00pm.

Financial support

Network service

Since only a limited number of terminals are available during the workshop, the attendees are strongly encouraged to bring their own computers.

you will find a number of 10/100 base Ethernet cables for laptop use in the workshop room. A couple of cables are also available outside of the workshop room. Wireless network connectivity is possible in the workshop room and most of free space within the building. DHCP automatically gives you an IP address. Registration of your computer is not required.

Please note the supply voltage of the electric power is AC100V and the shape of the power outlet in Japan may be different from yours. Participants who want to use their own computer or other electric devices are advised to bring plug adapters.
