Objective
The purpose of the workshop is to provide an opportunity for people in
the Asia-Pacific region working on lattice QCD and lattice field theory
to get together and exchange results and ideas in an informal setting.
There has been only a few such occasions in the past, and we feel that
the time is more than ripe for such small-scale meetings to be held more
frequently. We hope that the workshop we are planning serves as a stimulus
toward this direction.
Scientific program
The workshop will consist of one-hour talks with ample time for
discussions. The topics are expected to be diverse, from analytical studies
to numerical simulations and cluster building.
Please contact us if you wish to present a talk.
Program
Workshop on the internet
-
Live broadcast (Start at 13:30, Jan. 23, and at 18:30, Jan. 24)
Network service
Following network service is available at the workshop site.
- Your own computer with LAN card (100BASE-TX/10BASE-T)
If you have a laptop with an ethernet card, you can connect
it to a 10/100 base cable in the workshop room and free space
on the 3rd floor. DHCP automatically gives you an IP address.
- Your own computer with wireless LAN card
If you have a laptop with a wireless lan card, let us know
the MAC address. Our technical staff will register your computer.
You need an encryption key. The key will be given after
your are registered.
- PC terminals
Please let us know if you do not have a laptop and want a guest
account for our computer system.
You can use one of PC terminals with a label "Asia-Pacific
mini-workshop". The PC terminals have an X window emuration
and you can login to one of our server machines.
If X window login prompt
is missing, please contact us. To start it, you have to understand
Japanese!
Please note the supply voltage of the electric power is AC100V and the shape of the power outlet in Japan may be different from yours.
Participants who want to use their own computer or other electric devices are advised to bring plug adapters.
Presentation
At the workshop, you can use a PC projector with the resolution of 1024x768.
We shall prepare a note PC (IBM ThinkPad T20 with Windows2000 OS) to
connect to the projector for presentation. MS PowerPoint, Acrobat Reader
and GS Viewer will be available. You can bring your data on a portable
device such as a memory stick or a portable hard disk or a CD-ROM
(please make sure that your device works with the standard Windows
driver and does not require a special driver).
Proceedings
There will be no proceedings. Instead we wish to link the PDF file of
your presentation to the program of the Workshop web page.
Access to Center for Computational Physics
Express bus service is available from Narita to Tsukuba. You can find a
time table at
this page.
If the bus is inconvenient for your flight you first need to go to Tokyo
station by train and take an express bus to Tsukuba from there. The bus
from Tokyo station to Tsukuba starts every 15 minutes from "Yaesu-guchi"
(Yaesu entrance).
From the bus terminal of Tsukuba to the University the most convenient
is to take a taxi. It is about ten minutes ride.
The best point to get off the taxi is the bus stop "Daiichi Gaukugun mae".
The Center for Computational Physics is in front of you (three storied
brown building).
The same bus stop is available with the bus for "Tsukuba Daigaku chuuou".
However there is no English announcement and it may be inconvenient.
You can find access information at the CCP web site:
http://www.rccp.tsukuba.ac.jp/ccp/access.html.
You can download the instruction sheet for taxi drivers there.
Registration
Please register with
this registration form.
There will be no registration fee.
If the registration form does not work,
please register using the form

via e-mail to
tanigchi@het.ph.tsukuba.ac.jp
Deadline is 15 January 2003
Accommodation
Please make your own arrangement.
Information on hotels in Tsukuba is provided here.
Support
- Participants from Japan:
Travel and lodging can be supported if necessary. Graduate students are
eligible for this support.
- Participants from outside Japan:
Limited funding is available to faculty members. Please contact us
as soon as possible since visa procedure which may be needed to provide
support may take a month or more.
