Objective

As an activity under the JSPS Core-to-Core program "International Research Network for Computational Particle Physics" (principal investigator Akira Ukawa) we are going to hold a workshop on "Lattice QCD and Particle Phenomenology" at Center for Computational Sciences, University of Tsukuba on December 6-17, 2004. Through the workshop we aim at enhancing the collaborative works among researchers from leading institutes in Japan, USA, UK and Germany.

Program outline

During the workshop period we plan one or two seminars at every weekday starting at 10:30 and/or 3:30pm. Rest of the time is for free discussions among participants. To take an advantage of the informal nature of the workshop, the seminars could include a report of ongoing projects or proposals/suggestions for future works.

A tentative list of speakers (to be confirmed):

Registration and accomodation

Participants who would like to attend the workshop should fill the registration and accommodation form and send via e-mail to kuramasi@het.ph.tsukuba.ac.jp.

We will arrange a room at University Guest House or at one of nearby hotels. Please indicate your preference on the registration form.

There will be no registration fee.

Deadline is 15 November 2004

Desks and meeting rooms

For each participants we provide a desk. The internet connection is provided either with wireless LAN or an ethernet outlet providing DHCP. If you do not bring your own laptop and need a terminal, please indicate so in the registration form (as a Comment). For discussions you can use one of our meeting rooms during the workshop.

Access to Center for Computational Sciences

Express bus service is available from Narita to Tsukuba. You can find a time table at this page.

If the bus is inconvenient for your flight you first need to go to Tokyo station by train and take an express bus to Tsukuba from there. The bus from Tokyo station to Tsukuba starts every 15 minutes from "Yaesu-guchi" (Yaesu entrance).

>From the bus terminal of Tsukuba to the University the most convenient is to take a taxi. It is about ten minutes ride. The best point to get off the taxi is the bus stop "Daiichi Gakugun mae". The Center for Computational Physics is in front of you (three storied brown building). The same bus stop is available with the bus for "Tsukuba Daigaku chuuou". However there is no English announcement and it may be inconvenient.

You can find access information at the CCS web site: http://www.ccs.tsukuba.ac.jp/ccs/center/access-e.html.
You can download the instruction sheet for taxi drivers there.
