「Radiation Hydrodynamic Structure of Massive Circumstellar Disks」

- abstract -
The formation of massive stars has been one of the unresolved problems in
stellar astrophysics. Recent observational evidences suggest that massive star
formation occurs by accreting material from a circumstellar disk, similar to
low mass stars.
However, such disks are said to be short-lived due to the high amount of
radiation coming from the massive protostar. Thermal pressure from surrounding
HII regions further hinders the accretion. In this work, we try to develop a
radiation hydrodynamic model of massive circumstellar disks. The model uses the flux-limited diffusion (FLD) approximation to determine the temperature profile of the circumstellar disk.
Further work aims to develop a comprehensive 2D model of massive circumstellar
disks that includes radiation and thermal pressure, rotation and magnetic fields.
