1. Presentation method


You can use OHP or Projector for PC (SVGA, XGA).
    A slide projector will not be available.
    If you have other special requests like video, please let us know quickly.

2. Network Service


A few DHCP:LAN (10BT or 100BT) connection is available.

3. Party information


A party will be held in the middle day of the symposium (4th, March, 2003).
    It will begin at 18:30 at "Daigaku Kaikan Plaza".
    "NO" formal dress or suit is required. Take it easy to join the party!

4. Transportation


Tsukuba Science City is located about 50km north-west of Narita Airport (New Tokyo International Airport).
"Tsukuba Center" is the bus terminal in Tsukuba Science City.
Here, we present transportation to/from Tsukuba Center.

From/To Tokyo: here
 :   The most convenient way to reach Tsukuba Center from Tokyo is to use express bus.
    Express bus from Tokyo station to Tsukuba Center depart from "Yaesu minami guchi" by Tokyo station every 10 or 20 minutes.
    It takes about 70 minuets and costs 1,250Yen for one-way ticket.
    It often takes about or more than 120 minuets "FROM Tsukuba Center TO Tokyo" due to heavy traffic jam.

From/To Narita Airport (NRT):
The Narita-Tsukuba Center-Tsuchiura shuttle bus service takes 100 minutes to reach Tsukuba from the Airport via Route 408. A ticket costs 2,540Yen.

   FROM Narita Airport TO Tsukuba Center: More information

A ticket should be purchased at the counter inside the terminal building prior to boarding. The shuttle bus leaves the Airport from a designated stop outside of the terminal buildings. See below for the time table:

   FROM Tsukuba Center TO Narita Airport: More information

A ticket should be purchased at Tsukuba Center Office prior to boarding. The shuttle bus stops at "Tsukuba Center" according to the following time table:

Tsukuba (Departure) 6:20 7:20 8:50 10:20 11:55 13:25 14:35 15:50 17:35
Narita (Arrival) 8:00 9:00 10:30 12:00 13:35 15:05 16:15 17:30 19:15

Taxis take about 90 minutes to reach Tsukuba from the Airport and costs about 15,000Yen.
Taxi stands outside the terminal buildings are separated depending on destinations.
Locate the stand for Ibaraki prefecture area, and tell the driver to go to Tsukuba City.
However, it is very expensive and we recommend you to use shuttle bus.

From/To Haneda Airport:
The shuttle bus service is also available between "Haneda Airpot" and "Tsukuba Center". It takes about 110 minutes. A ticket costs 1,800Yen.
Sometime, It takes more than 150 minuets "FROM Tsukuba Center TO Haneda Airport" due to heavy traffic jam.

   FROM Haneda Airport TO Tsukuba Center:

A ticket should be purchased at the counter inside the terminal building prior to boarding. The shuttle bus leaves the Airport from a desigated stop outside of the terminal buildings at the following times:
Haneda (Departure) 8:40 9:30 10:35 11:35 13:00 14:20 15:20 16:30 17:55 19:20 20:20 21:20
Tsukuba (Arrival) 10:30 11:20 12:25 13:25 14:50 16:10 17:10 18:20 19:45 20:50 21:40 22:40

   FROM Tsukuba Center TO Haneda Airport:

A ticket should be purchased at Tsukuba Center Office prior to boarding. The shuttle bus stops at "Tsukuba Center" at the following times:
Tsukuba (Departure) 5:30 6:20 7:00 8:00 9:30 11:40 13:00 14:00 15:00 16:00 16:40 17:40
Haneda (Arrival) 7:10 8:20 9:00 10:00 11:30 13:40 14:40 15:40 16:40 17:40 18:20 19:10

Taxis take about 110 minutes to reach Tsukuba from the Airport and costs about 20,000Yen.
However, it is very expensive and we recommend you to use the shuttle bus.

How to Access:

You may take a city bus at the #1 stop in "Tsukuba Center" (Direction of the bus is "Tsukuba Daigaku Chuuoh Yuki").
You should get off at "Dai'ichi Gakugun-To Mae" (it takes about 10 min. and costs 260Yen). You can also find taxis at "Tsukuba Center",
which cost around 1,200Yen to "Dai'ichi Gakugun-To Mae" or our center. (Instruction Sheet to Taxi Drivers)

6. University Hall Lodge

You should take a city bus at the #1 stop at "Tsukuba Center",
and get off at "Daigaku-Kaikan" (=Japanese name of the University Hall).
You can also find taxies at "Tsukuba Center", which cost around 1,200Yen
