ASCAが観測した新しいX線トランジェント天体

A new transient X-ray source has been dicovered with the ASCA GIS in
0.5-10 keV.This source is located around (l,b) = (28,0) in the Scutum
arm region, a typical galactic ridge, and was incidentally detected in
the rim of the fov during the observation of the galactic diffuse X-ray
emission in 1996 [Kaneda et al.]. In the past observation of the same
region in 1993, no corresponding target had been detected. The absorption-
corrected mean flux was about 5*E-12 erg/s/cm^2 in 0.5-10 keV and whether
there is any pulsation or not has not been searched yet. The spectrum has
a photon index of about 2, which is rather steep for those of typical
X-ray pulsars. Most surprisingly, a strong Fe-K emission line is detected
with an equivalent width of about 3000 eV, and is found to be highly-
ionized with a centroid energy around 6.7 keV. This makes the source quite
mysterious.
